how consultations work
-
Use the contact form on this website, my linked booking platform, call and leave a message at (825) 606-0767, or email me at alyssa@bloomandkindcounselling.ca and request a consultation.
-
I will e-mail you to book a time for us to connect for about 15 minutes. We can meet by phone or video chat, and there is no cost or obligation to book.
I am usually available Monday to Friday between 10am and 3pm, but have flexibility in my schedule. We can find a time that works for you.
You can expect to hear back from me in 24-48 hours to set up an appointment.

A consultation is meant as a sort of “vibe check”, to see if we are a good fit for each other. It’s also an opportunity to ask any questions you might have about the process, my approach, or insurance and cost.
No questions are off the table. I may have a few brief questions for you, too, such as:
What is going on in your life that brings you to therapy?
What might you like to work on?
Have you been in therapy before? How was it?
What are some things that worked for you previously? What didn’t work?
If you don’t know the answers to these questions, that’s okay.
-
You can decide during our consultation that you’d like to book, and I can help you set up your client portal profile.
Or you can go away and think about it. You can reach back out to me if you decide you’d like to move ahead with the intake process.
But remember, there’s no pressure or hurt feelings if you decide we aren’t a good fit. You can let me know you don’t want to proceed, or you can ghost me. Whatever you prefer.
what to expect during an intake session
review paperwork and policies
We’ll review a couple of key points about the forms you’ve signed, including informed consent, confidentiality, and cancellation and rescheduling. If you have any questions, I can answer them for you.
get to know you
I don’t require a detailed history of your entire life, or for you to disclose personal details about trauma if you aren’t comfortable with that. I like to get a picture of your current circumstances, a brief picture of your upbringing, past experiences with therapy, and your strengths.
current challenges and goals
We’ll talk about what brings you into therapy - like what’s going on for you right now, what challenges you’re experiencing, or what you’d like to work on - and we’ll set some goals, like what you’d like to get out of therapy, or what might help you know therapy is working for you.
