individual counselling

why individual counselling?

Being neurodivergent, living with chronic illness, or being disabled all come with unique challenges. When the world isn’t designed for your brain or your body, trying to keep up with work, navigating crumbling systems, making time for friends and family, and caring for yourself can be exhausting, disheartening, and feel like a never ending game of catch-up.

Counselling can’t take away the barriers and external stressors, but it can help you cope. Learning how to identify and feel your feelings, getting in touch with your inner world, and learning how to talk to yourself in a compassionate, not critical, way can make a big difference to your overall mental health and wellebing.

the counselling process

  • low pressure intakes

A whole session devoted to getting to know you. Here we’ll talk about your current circumstances, your stressors and challenges, and your background. There’s no need to share your whole story or all your trauma in the first session if you don’t want to. We’ll go at your pace.

  • reimagning goals

Goals can feel hard to name, or create added pressure or demands. We’ll talk about goals in terms of how you want to feel, any specific things you’d like to work on, and what your life might look like if therapy works.

  • ongoing sessions

Whether we meet weekly, bi-weekly, once a month, or as needed, there’s no limit or cut-off on your sessions. We can work together for as long as you need, and meet as often as is convenient for you.

  • flexible session lengths

Do you often feel rushed in your therapy sessions, or feel like by the time you catch up on what happened in between sessions, you’re half way through your appointment? I offer 60 minute and 90 minute sessions so that all processing speeds and styles get their needs met.

what we can work on together

I work with all kinds of issues and challenges, from complex trauma to relationship issues to eating disorders. However, the clients I see most often usually identify some of the following concerns.

fees & pricing

get more therapy for less with lower than average fee per session

Intake session: $180

Our initial session is booked for 75 minutes, and involves going over policies, informed consent, and getting to know each other.

You will receive digital copies of our policies, consent forms, and intake form to fill out and sign before the session.

90 minute session: $220

These sessions are 90 minutes in length. They are the same as 60 minute sessions, but are scheduled for an extra 30 minutes to allow more time for verbal processors, deep thinkers, and those who tend to feel cut off too quickly by the standard hour long sessions.

60 minute session: $150

These sessions are 60 minutes in length and booked as frequently as you need them, as often as once a week.

Here’s where we will do the “work” of therapy. Follow-up sessions might focus on a current issue or stressor, the goals we set in our intake, or continue work from our previous sessions.

30 minute catch-up: $75

Sometimes you don’t need the full hour, but would find it beneficial to touch base in between sessions. These shorter, half-hour calls are great for quick vent sessions, short catch-ups, or when you could use a little extra support without the time and cost of a full session.

I believe that mental health services and counselling should be accessible, affordable, and available to everyone who needs them.
